Museums are a great way to spend a day learning and exploring! They make for the perfect date idea, a fun activity to do with the whole family, and are even fun when going on solo visits. Locally, we have some great museums to check out, including the Albany Museum of Art.

A Variety of Exhibitions

Art ExhibitionsWhen you visit the Albany Museum of Art, you will be able to explore all the various exhibits they currently showcase. Because these are always changing, each visit to the museum can be a new and unique experience.

Here are some exhibits they currently or previously have had…

  • Juan Logan: Creating & Collecting: Juan Logan is an artist with a truly unique approach. Within this exhibit, you will get to see various paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations that all focus on showcasing the American experience.
  • Viberations of Pasaquan: People travel all over the world to Pasaquan to see the artwork of the late St. EOM. Now at the Albany Museum of Art, you can get a look at some of his art in person, as well as work by other artists who drew influence from his artwork.
  • Brian Willmont: This exhibition lets you explore the work of the Brooklyn-based artist, Brian Willmont. You will be in awe of the unique patterns and color combinations he creates within each of his pieces.

Join for an Event at the Museum

The Albany Museum of Art also hosts a variety of events throughout the year. You can join their AMA Art Lovers Book Club or come by for Yoga in the Gallery, which is a nice way to unwind once a month with the unique mixture of art and yoga.

You can even learn more about the different collections within the museum by joining the Art Chat. Every Friday, you can stop by as one of their guides gives you the inside scoop on the current exhibits they have!

They also host various activities and events meant to show kids the fun, creative world of art. They have various summer camps—each with a unique theme—that lets your kids learn through fun, hands-on activities.

Their Homeschool Day, which is hosted monthly, is for elementary-aged students. They get to go on gallery tours and even make their own art projects. You can even get them started at a younger age! Their Toddler Takeover helps encourage your child’s creativity through art-making activities, stories, and more.
