Exploring Albany and the surrounding areas, there are so many family-owned and operated businesses to explore. One of our favorites is Pretoria Fields Brewery. Pretoria Fields operates as a farm and brewery that distributes quality products to areas throughout Leesburg and Tifton.
The Start
Pretoria Fields Brewery is part of the larger Pretoria Fields Collective, which includes the family farm that features over 200 acres of organic wheat.
Dr. Tripp Morgan, son of Dr. Harris Morgan, had forged a passion for craft brewing in his earlier years. After 15 years spent pursuing multiple medical degrees and developing the Albany Vascular Specialist Center , Tripp found himself yearning to get back to his passion of brewing tasty beer.
Interested in scaling his idea, Tripp imagined utilizing the family farm to grow barley, wheat, hops, and other needed ingredients such as seasonal fruit to brew beer. Fast forward to the winter of 2017, and the Pretoria Fields Collective opened their first tasting room in downtown Albany.
The Brewery
Dr. Morgan founded the brewery out of a passion for craft beer and a desire to bring people together. As such, the tasting room is designed as a community space where people can gather and enjoy great conversation, and of course, great beer.
Inside the tasting room, you’ll have a view of the 30-barrel brew house. If you’d like to learn more about how the Pretoria Fields Collective’s high-quality beer is made, there are also free guided tours of the facility.
When you’re ready to order, you’ll have the option to choose one of the four core beers, or you could opt to explore something seasonal. Tasty ingredients and a refined process ensure you get a quality brew.
The Farm
Farming has long been a part of the Morgan family. Focused on sustainable agriculture that will provide crops that society needs without compromising or damaging the natural resources needed for farming, the farm has achieved organic certification.
As the Pretoria Fields Collective looks toward the future, they’ve set their sights on farming hemp. Hemp has recently been legalized for farmers to grow in the state of Georgia, presenting the Collective with the opportunity to add an important crop to their repertoire.
Processed hemp yields CBD oil, which has been proven to help with afflictions such as inflammation, pain, anxiety, and more.
